The Big Pedal 2019

19th Mar 2019

The Big Pedal 2019 returns next week so it's time to get the children's (and adults') bikes and scooters dusted off!

The nationwide challenge will take place over 10 days between Monday 25th March and Friday 5th April and this year's theme is 'Travel around the body, exploring and getting active'.

The aim of the challenge is to cycle or scoot to and from school every day over the duration of the challenge.

Cycling or scooting to school has numerous benefits including improving physical and mental health, reducing pollution and developing friendships.

Previously St. Patrick's has had great success, placing in the top twenty schools in the United Kingdom and the top ten schools in Northern Ireland in the past three years.

This year we would like to make an extra special effort as we progress to achieving our Gold Active Travel Award.

Every day over the course of the challenge the children in all classes will have the opportunity to participate in cycle skills and develop their confidence on their bikes and scooters.

Parents are welcome to walk or cycle alongside their children. So are you up to the challenge?
