Netball Tournament

19th Mar 2018

Congratulations to our Netball team who gave up their day off on Friday to attend the Schools Netball tournament in Ballymena. They had a very successful morning, winning all four of their matches to emerge victorious in the Small Schools section of the tournament.

The team consisted of 6 P7 girls and 2 P6 girls, captained by Beth. Their first match was against Carnaghts, with a decisive final score of 8-0, thanks to some very strong goal scoring by Naoise and Katie. In the second match against Portglenone, the girls' skills of passing and defending were very much in evidence, with a final score of 9-1. Finally they played The Diamond, they pulled on all their resources and won this match 5-1 to ensure their place in the final.

The final match was a longer match against The Diamond, who came out very determined to claim the cup. However, St. Patrick's held strong with every member of the team working hard to make sure the cup came back home to Glenariff. The final score in this match was 12-2, so overall the girls only conceded 4 goals in 4 matches, a great reflection of the whole team effort. This is our fifth consecutive time bringing home the title from this tournament, a great reflection of the dedication from all of the girls involved and especially their coach, Mrs McCurry, who gives up her time so generously every week to pass on these skills and share her expertise. We really appreciate and value this commitment.

Congratulations to you all, we are so proud of you!
