Instructional Writing in Action!

The P4 and P5 children have been exploring instructional writing as this term’s writing genre. They have become familiar with the purpose and features on instructional texts and enjoyed analysing how clear, step-by-step instructions are organised. To put their learning into practice, the children sequenced instructions for how to make a sandwich before carefully following them to create their own jam, ham or butter sandwiches. They showed impressive independence and fine motor skills while spreading fillings, cutting sandwiches into halves, quarters, trimming crusts and creating triangles, squares or rectangle shapes. Of course, the best part of all was enjoying their delicious sandwiches at the end!🥪🍽️🍞
