Inspiration from Paddy Donnelly for P1, 2 and 3
Today we had a very exciting and anticipated visitor in Primary One, Two and Three. The well know local author and illustrator, Paddy Donnelly visited our classroom to help inspire us all to be creative and use our imagination to write books and draw fun pictures and characters. The children all loved hearing him read one of his own stories ‘Badger Books’. They met the badger and fox and were encouraged to look in detail at all the little intricacies in the pictures. One child from each class was chosen to be the main character in a class story which was brought to life with live illustrations. They then had great fun creating a new character using three animals from a selection on a wheel spin. The last part of the workshop involved all the children creating their own storybooks and by this time their imagination was in full flow! Paddy very kindly took a lot of time to then sign and personalise their own books and also some new orders. Thank you to the PTFA who made this possible for our children through their fundraising. It was a very enjoyable and worthwhile morning for all.
