Fire Safety in Primary 4&5
19th Mar 2026
Our Primary 4&5 class enjoyed a fantastic Fire Safety talk today, delivered by Hugo and Liam from Cushendall Fire Service. We are extremely grateful to them for giving up their time to visit our school and for sharing such important life‑saving advice in a child‑friendly, engaging way.
During the session, the children learned about:
- How to stay safe at home - including the importance of working smoke alarms and keeping them tested.
- Creating a fire escape plan with their family and knowing the safest way to leave the house in an emergency.
- What to do if there is a fire - “Get out, stay out, call 999.”
- The dangers of matches, lighters and electrical items, and why they must never be used without an adult.
- How firefighters keep our community safe, the equipment they use, and how teamwork helps them do their job.
The children asked brilliant questions and were really inspired by the visit - a huge thank you once again to Hugo and Liam for helping our pupils learn how to keep themselves and others safe.
