Children's Mental Health Week with Primary 6 and 7

11th Feb 2022

Primary 6 and 7 have thorougly enjoyed this week's activities as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

We loved embracing the cold and participating in the daily mile everyday. We even managed to escape to the beach on Wednesday as it was a beautiful morning. The children really enjoyed the sea breeze and this time out.

The classes both participated in Shared Education Teams sessions with children from St Ciaran's, Cushendun and Bushvalley on Monday to inlcude: Music Bloom, where we used Makaton signing as part of our singing and a very creative Matisse Art Lesson.

On Tuesday we completed a yoga session for PE and we also took part in some Harry Potter Cosmic yoga as a movement break on Thursday.

Well done to Primary 3 and 4 who created our gorgeous gratitude box - primary 6 and 7 loved taking the time to think about and write down the things that they are grateful for, especially during a busy week.

Each child recieved 'One Kind Word' about them from each child in their class. There were lots of smiley faces when we were recieving these compliments.

During 'Safer Internet Day' on Tuesday the children took part in a variety of paired activities and group discussions regarding different online gaming scenarios. During this time the children learned about being sensible with their identity and the rules of online gaming and social media, as well as remembering to be as kind online as we are in real life.

The children were just as excited for Dominc to come in and coach them hurling/camogie this week! We always enjoy this active end to a Friday.

Not only this week, but every week, it is important that we take time to be mindful of others and our own mental health. This can often mean taking time out of stressful situations to relax and have fun.

Very well done for your continued enthusiasm throughout the week boys and girls. We wish you all a happy, healthy and well deserved break next week :)
